Girlkind - Let us Empower, Educate & Inspire the Girls Around us

Girlkind's Mission Is:
- To restore life, value and dignity to girls and women by seeking change in cultural values and societies.
- To create awareness on the issue of Gendercide and combat Gender Discrimination.
- To support abandoned & orphaned girls all around the world, creating a better world where every girl matters.
How and Why I Got Started With Girlkind
Girl kind got started, with my girlfriend, and coming from an Indo-Canadian, Punjabi family coming from India girls were treated differently than how my parents treated us. Ironically it was in Canada I was told how to know my place and behave like a girl. Once I came to Canada my own culture was looking down on me, not having parents or a brother.
We didn’t have a father figure or a male role model. And I didn't understand that, why that was so important, because that's not in our hands. I felt like I was fighting for my own birthright I wasted so much time and energy on something I didn't need. I could have done so many other things in learning and, and defending that I can do it.
I can take care of myself as long I'm alive. I don't need a man, I want a partner, I want a husband who can be my friend and stand by my side. I don't need him to take care of me, But the culture is that way.
And then my girlfriend, whatever her life was and asked me for help and I responded I would love to help you. She went on and started Girlkind and I just helped somebody who had a vision.
To help bring awareness on the gender side of things for girls because of stigmas in immigrant cultures. Many people don't realize how much a girl's body goes through and often I find we are our own worst enemy because when we think we are the only ones thinking thinning this
We're focused on the big problems and few people want to address the incremental change that could occur with little changes at home because they don’t think it's going to affect everybody else.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
